YouTube is the first video channel in CMO.so. The user gives Maggie a short video (5-30 seconds), Maggie writes its title, description and tags, the user checks them, answers the questions YouTube requires, and approves; at the next YouTube slot CMO.so uploads it to their channel. A vertical or square video becomes a Short by itself. Every YouTube post is approved by the user, every time: YouTube does not allow automatic uploads. This skill connects the channel and runs its queue.

When to use

  • Anything about YouTube with CMO.so: connecting, adding a video, its details, visibility and made for kids, approving, "is it live", why an upload failed, pausing.
  • "Post this clip on YouTube", "make it a Short", "upload it unlisted".
  • Not for: writing one Short's title, description and tags, or checking the video itself (cmo-youtube-posts); ideas and scripts for short videos (cmo-short-form-video); filming and editing (cmo-video-production); a long-form channel plan, thumbnails and scripts for long videos (cmo-youtube-strategy).

How it works

From input to output

  1. 1You give it
    • The website (`workspace`) the YouTube channel belongs to
    • The video: uploaded in the CMO.so app, or a direct link to a video file (MP4 or MOV), 5-30 seconds
    • The part to use (start and end seconds) and, for a wide video, whether to make it vertical
    • The user's answers for visibility (public, unlisted, private), made for kids, and altered or synthetic content
    • Which drafts to approve, edit or skip
  2. 2It works through the method
    • Asks what's missing, one question at a time
    • Follows the workflow step by step
    • Checks the result against its quality bar and guardrails

What is the YouTube queue skill?

Run the YouTube queue in CMO.so: connect the channel, add a short video (5-30 seconds) from the app or a file link, check its title, description, tags, visibility and made-for-kids answer, get the user's approval, and follow it through YouTube's processing until it's live as a Short.

It's one of cmo.so's open CMO.so core skills: a SKILL.md file that tells an AI agent when to use it, what to ask you first, the steps to follow, the checks to pass and what to hand back, so the job is done the same careful way every time.

When should I use it?

Reach for it when you'd otherwise say something like “Connect my YouTube channel”, “Post this video on YouTube”, “Turn this clip into a YouTube Short”. Your agent reads the skill's description and picks it for requests like these, so you don't need to name it.

If a request is close but not quite right, the skill says so and points to the related skill that fits better, instead of forcing a poor answer.

What do I need to give it?

It works best with the website (`workspace`) the YouTube channel belongs to; the video: uploaded in the CMO.so app, or a direct link to a video file (MP4 or MOV), 5-30 seconds; the part to use (start and end seconds) and, for a wide video, whether to make it vertical; the user's answers for visibility (public, unlisted, private), made for kids, and altered or synthetic content; and which drafts to approve, edit or skip.

You don't have to prepare everything up front. The skill asks for missing pieces one at a time and says plainly when it's working from an assumption instead of your data.

What do I get back?

You get a connected YouTube channel (the right one when the Google account has several); a YouTube draft in Review with a title, a description and tags, ready for the user's approval; and the video uploaded at its slot and followed through YouTube's processing: live as a Short or a video, or failed with the reason in plain words.

Every result comes from a written method with a quality bar, so numbers name their source, claims are checked and the output is ready to use or share rather than a rough draft.

Is it free?

Yes. The skill is open source under the MIT licence, so you can use it, change it and share it, including for client work.

Seeing, copying and downloading the whole file on cmo.so needs a free sign-in. Copying also upvotes and saves it, so you can find it again under Saved on the skills page.

Which AI agents can use it?

Claude Code installs it from the cmo.so marketplace. Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, such as Codex or Cursor, can use it once the folder is in its skills directory.

As a core skill it also works in Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients through the cmo.so MCP server, so you can use whichever assistant you already have.

How do I install it?

In Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add AI-Marketing-OS-LTD/cmo-so-skills, then /plugin install cmo-so@cmo-so. That installs this skill together with the rest of the CMO.so core group.

For other agents, sign in, press Copy or Download above and put the file in your agent's skills folder as SKILL.md inside a folder named after the skill.

Do I need a cmo.so account to use it?

Yes. YouTube queue is a core skill: it works through the cmo.so MCP server with tools such as youtube_connect_link, social_list, social_video_add, social_youtube_set, so it acts on your own website, drafts and channels.

The free plan is enough to start, and every change it makes is shown to you as a preview first and only goes ahead after you say yes.

Which skills work well with it?

It pairs well with YouTube Short writing; Short-form video; Video production; and YouTube channel strategy. The agent can hand over from one to the next in the same conversation, for example research first, then the plan, then the writing.

Each of them has its own page with what it needs and what it returns, linked below.

Can I change it to fit my business?

Yes. It's a plain Markdown file, so you can edit the steps, add your own checks and examples, and keep your version in your own repo. The MIT licence allows it.

If your change would help others too, suggest it on the skills page or open a pull request on GitHub, and it may be folded into the library for everyone.

Where does the method come from?

It's written and maintained by cmo.so in the public cmo-so-skills repo, alongside the rest of the library.

Improvements ship to the repo and appear here as soon as they're synced, with the version shown at the top of the page.

Is my data sent to cmo.so when the agent uses it?

No. The skill only guides your own agent; your files, documents and data stay wherever your agent and its tools keep them.

As a core skill it reads and changes your cmo.so data through the MCP server, with your sign-in, and only after you confirm each change.
