Why founders fall behind on marketing
Before product-market fit, every hour goes to the product and every pound goes to runway. Marketing is the job that never quite starts.
Shipping always wins
There is always a bug to fix or a customer call to take. The blog post you planned three weeks ago is still a title in your notes app.
A marketer costs months of runway
A full-time marketing hire in the UK costs around £3,000 a month before any tools. Most early teams need that money for the product.
Nobody has heard of you yet
No domain authority, no followers, no one searching your name. You have to be found for the problem people type into Google before they know you exist.
AI answers before you do
Early adopters now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI which tool to try. If your site doesn't explain clearly what you solve, the answer names someone else.

Monday you ship. By Friday, your marketing has shipped too.
It's Monday, you've just pushed a release, and nobody outside your team knows it exists.
You paste your website into cmo.so. Maggie reads it and writes your brand profile: what you build, who it's for, why you're different, who you compete with and how you sound. You fix the two lines she got wrong.
By Tuesday a week of drafts is waiting: a blog post on the problem you solve, a LinkedIn post about the release in your own voice and a Google Business update, each with a picture in your brand's look. You approve them on your phone between calls.
By Friday they're live on your website and your channels, each reported back with its link. Next week she does it again, and Search Console in cmo.so shows you which posts are starting to bring people in.
Your whole marketing team, from £15 a month
Each of those problems has an answer that keeps running while you build.
Your brand, researched in minutes
Enter your website and Maggie builds your brand profile: products, audience, unique selling points, SWOT, competitors and voice. Every post starts from it, and you can change any part.
Brand profileArticles that answer real searches
Blog posts written for Google and for AI answers, on the questions your buyers ask, published straight to WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow or any site through the cmo.so API.
Blog on autopilotEvery channel in its own style
One idea becomes a LinkedIn post, a Google Business update and, in beta, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok posts, each written the way that channel reads.
Social channelsPictures without a designer
Every post gets a picture in your brand's look, with a title and a line of text in your colours. Videos you upload can be posted too.

Approve posts in the iPhone app, the web app, or inside ChatGPT and Claude. Once you trust it, switch any channel to autopilot and pause it any time.

Why not just…
The usual ways early teams try to get marketing done, and where each one runs out.
…hire a marketer?
Around £3,000 a month before tools, plus weeks of hiring and briefing. Maggie starts from your website today, from £15 a month.
…use a freelancer?
Good freelancers are booked up and bill by the piece. Maggie writes every week, for every channel, in the same voice.
…write it with ChatGPT?
You still brief it, edit it, make the pictures and post everything yourself. Maggie runs the whole loop and remembers your brand between posts.
…do it yourself?
It works until the next release or the next fundraise. With Maggie, marketing carries on through the weeks you can't look at it.

Marketing automation for startups: your questions
Still unsure?
What is marketing automation for startups?
It's software that does the repeating work of marketing for you: researching your audience, planning content, writing posts, making pictures and publishing on schedule.
With cmo.so, Maggie does all of it from your website, and nothing goes out until you approve it.
How much does cmo.so cost for a startup?
There's a free plan with no card needed. Paid plans are per website and billed monthly, starting with Air at £15 a month for two posts a day; Pro is for growing teams.
Founding members get lower prices for good on every plan until 1 January 2027. You can cancel any time.
Will the posts sound like us?
Maggie writes from your brand profile, which includes your voice, audience and the way you describe what you do. You can edit the profile and any post, and she learns from your changes.
For example, if your site describes the product in plain terms and you talk to buyers like a founder rather than a brand, that tone carries into your LinkedIn posts and blog articles. If Maggie gets two lines wrong in the profile, fix them once and every later post starts from the corrected version.
Maggie remembers what you change and what you turn down, separately for each website and channel. That means your LinkedIn voice and your blog voice can differ, and drafts get closer to how you write the more you use her.
Does it post without asking?
No. By default nothing goes out until you approve it. When you're happy, you can switch any channel to autopilot and pause it again at any time.
Drafts wait in To review in the iPhone app, the web app or inside ChatGPT and Claude, so you can approve them between calls, edit any line or skip a post. If you already work in Claude, you can ask Maggie there, and she shows each change before she makes it.
Autopilot is a per-channel choice. One approach is to keep review on while you find your voice, then let a channel run once the drafts need few edits. During a launch or a quiet patch, you can pause any channel and pick it up again later.
Which websites and channels does it work with?
Websites: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, and any other site through the cmo.so API.
Channels: LinkedIn and Google Business, with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok in beta. You can request a channel that isn't listed yet.
How soon will we see results?
Your brand profile and first drafts are ready within minutes of entering your website. Search traffic builds over weeks to months as Google and AI tools find your posts; Search Console in cmo.so shows what each post brings in.
Social posts can go out as soon as you approve the first ones, so you'll see activity within days. Blog posts usually take a few weeks to be indexed and a few months to build traffic. Nobody can promise rankings, and cmo.so doesn't.
A good first step is to connect Google Search Console early. You can then watch which posts are found, for which searches, and how that changes week by week. AI visibility shows how Google's AI answers describe your startup as that builds.
Can AI replace a marketing hire at our stage?
For the daily work of writing, designing and publishing, Maggie does what a first marketing hire would spend most of their week on. You still set the direction and approve what goes out, and many teams keep using her after they hire, so their marketer can focus on strategy.
Compare the cost: a full-time marketing hire in the UK costs around £3,000 a month before tools. Air is £15 a month for two posts a day, and Pro is there for growing teams. Maggie starts from your website the day you sign up, without weeks of hiring and briefing.
What Maggie doesn't replace is your judgement. You decide what to say about the product, which audience to go after and what goes out. When you do hire, add your marketer in Me → Team so they can review and edit posts.
What happens to our data?
cmo.so never sells or rents your data. Search Console data is only used to show your own results and plan your content, never for advertising or to train AI models.
Maggie works from your public website and the brand profile you check, so there's no need to share customer data. Social channels connect through each platform's official sign-in, so cmo.so never sees your passwords, and you can disconnect from cmo.so or the platform at any time.
If you post product demos, videos you upload are only used to post them and are deleted within 7 days, so keep your own copy. Everything already published stays on your website and accounts if you leave. The privacy policy is at cmo.so/privacy and the terms at cmo.so/terms.
Which channels should startups and founders start with?
Most start with your blog for the problem people search for and LinkedIn for the founder's voice, then add more channels as you grow.
You can connect more channels at any time; each has its own posting times and queue, and one idea can become a post for every channel, written in each one's style.
We already have a blog. Will Maggie repeat what's there?
No. Maggie reads your sitemap and existing articles first, plans new topics around what you already cover and, if you want, refreshes older articles so they keep earning search traffic.
Rewrites keep the same address, so your links and search history stay intact.
Can my team approve posts too?
Yes. In Me → Team you can add people and choose what each can see or change, using presets such as editor or manager, or setting each area yourself.
Approvals, edits and changes are kept in one place, so you always know who approved what.
Can I approve from my phone?
Yes. The cmo.so app works on iPhone and on the web at app.cmo.so: swipe to approve a social post, open an article to edit it, or pause a channel.
You can also ask Maggie from ChatGPT or Claude through the cmo.so connector.
