Questions

YouTube Shorts automation: your questions

Still unsure?

Does Maggie make the video?

No. You add the video; Maggie writes the title, description and tags and posts it with your settings.

Film a short clip on your phone, add it with Write a post → Video and trim it to 5 to 30 seconds with Use this part. Maggie writes a title of 40 to 60 characters, about 150 characters of description and tags from your brand profile. Prefer your own words? Choose I'll write it instead of Let Maggie write it. Either way, you set Visibility, Made for kids? and the altered or synthetic content label yourself before approving.

Why must I answer Made for kids?

YouTube asks it for every video, so it's yours to set. You can also set a default for the channel.

It's your decision, not Maggie's, and setting a channel default saves you choosing each time. Alongside it you choose Visibility (Public, Unlisted or Private) and mark Altered or synthetic content if it applies. Every YouTube video needs its own OK, so you see these settings before each one goes up.

Why do I see a Google warning when connecting?

During the beta Google shows that it hasn't verified our app yet. Choose Advanced, then continue.

It appears because Google hasn't finished verifying our app. Sign in with the Google account that owns the channel, then pick the channel under Which YouTube channel?. If your Google account has no channel yet, create one on YouTube first. You'll also need a place in the beta: ask to join in the app with your channel's Google account.

Will my video show as a Short?

Vertical or square videos of up to 30 seconds show as Shorts. Edit or delete them later in YouTube Studio.

Shorts go out at your YouTube posting times, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 18:00 by default. Each YouTube video needs its own OK, as they're left out of Approve all. The same video can also go to LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok from the one post.

What videos can I post to YouTube?

Videos from 5 to 30 seconds, up to 250 MB, chosen from your phone or computer or linked as a direct video file. Use this part trims a longer clip, then choose Let Maggie write it or I'll write it.

A post is either a video or a picture post, never both, and the same video can go to several channels at once. We delete our copy of the video after posting.

When do YouTube posts go out, and can I change it?

Each channel has posting times. One post goes out at each time on each channel: your own posts first, then your campaigns'. Change the days and times in the YouTube settings, or pause just this channel.

If a time passes while posting is paused, that slot is skipped rather than doubled up later, so your audience never gets a burst of posts at once.

Can I check every YouTube post before it goes out?

Yes, and that's how it starts. New posts wait in the app (Posts → Ready for articles, Social → Review for social posts) until you approve them. You can edit any post, ask Maggie to change it in your own words, or delete it.

When you trust the results, switch the channel to go out on its own; the content guard keeps checking each post first and holds anything it isn't sure about. You can switch back, or pause, at any time.

How many social channels can I connect alongside YouTube?

The free plan and verified websites without a plan can use two social channels; paid plans more. Each channel has its own posting times and its own queue, so one never crowds out another.

One idea can become a post for every channel you pick, each written in that channel's style, with one AI generation per channel.

What if YouTube disconnects?

Platforms sign apps out from time to time. When that happens, the Social tab shows a Reconnect button and a note explaining what happened, and the YouTube account sheet shows when the platform will next ask you to sign in.

Posts waiting to go out stay in the queue until you reconnect. From the account sheet you can also change the page, profile or channel, or disconnect for good.

Can I manage YouTube from my phone?

Yes. Everything on this page works in the cmo.so app on iPhone and on the web at app.cmo.so: connecting, approving, editing and pausing.

You can also ask Maggie from ChatGPT or Claude through the cmo.so connector, for example to see what's waiting for you or to change a post, and she shows a card before she changes anything.

What does cmo.so keep from my YouTube account?

Only what it needs to publish for you. Keys, passwords and sign-in tokens are checked with YouTube when you connect and stored to post on your behalf; Maggie never sees them in the chat.

cmo.so never sells or rents your data. Search Console data is only used to show your own results and plan your content, never for advertising or to train AI models, and videos you upload are deleted within 7 days of posting.

What happens to my posts if I disconnect YouTube or cancel?

Everything already published stays on YouTube: the posts are yours, written into your own account or site. Disconnecting only stops new posts going out.

Written posts that haven't gone out yet stay in the app, so you can reconnect later and carry on from where you stopped. A cancelled paid plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for.
