Designs the moments inside a product where a free or trial user is asked to pay or upgrade: feature gates, usage limits, trial-end screens and gentle reminders. The rule underneath everything: ask after the user has felt the value, at the moment they want more of it, and always let them say no without losing trust. The result is a map of upgrade moments, full screen copy, an upgrade flow and a measurement plan.
When to use
- "Free users never upgrade", "trial-to-paid is low", "design the paywall", "what should hit a limit?"
- Writing trial-ending, usage-limit and locked-feature screens.
- Mobile apps adding subscriptions and needing store-compliant paywalls.
- Not for: the public pricing page (
cmo-page-cro), setting prices and packaging (cmo-pricing-strategy), users who never reach value in the first place (cmo-onboarding-activation), or cancel flows (cmo-churn-prevention).
