A lead magnet is something useful a visitor gets in exchange for their email. Most fail because they are broad ("The ultimate guide to marketing"), slow to consume, or unrelated to what the business sells. This skill picks one specific problem the ideal customer has right now, chooses the lightest format that solves it, and plans the page, form, delivery and follow-up so the people who sign up are people who could buy.
When to use
- The site gets traffic but captures few emails.
- The user wants a gated asset, content upgrade, checklist, template, email course, quiz or webinar.
- An existing ebook or download is not converting, or brings leads that never buy.
Not for: interactive calculators and graders (cmo-free-tools); writing the email sequence itself (cmo-email-sequences); building the page (cmo-landing-page-builder); landing-page conversion audits (cmo-landing-page-audit).
